A delegation headed by Dr. Shu Wei, Vice Minister of SAMR, visited the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the Lao People’s Democratic Republic from October 26th to 31st.
In Saudi Arabia, the delegation met with the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, signed a Memorandum of Understanding on conformity assessment cooperation and reached consensus on cooperative document on Technical Barriers to Trade. The delegation also visited Saudi inspection and testing institutions and laboratories to learn about the situation of Chinese products exported to Saudi Arabia, and paid a field visit to the Saudi Electricity Company.
In Laos, the delegation met with the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment and the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, focusing on agricultural standardization, agricultural product certification, quality infrastructure, and consumer protection. Consensus was reached on signing a document for cooperation on conformity assessment.
Additionally, the delegation held discussions with Chinese enterprises operated in the two countries on the institutional connectivity challenges encountered in projects undertaken.
